Welcome to an enchanted world of paper! The Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave creates hand painted clothes out of paper, connected to history and fashion. She has put up exhibitions in many different places around the world for more than twenty years.

The Fashion of the Medici – a world exhibition of paper is inspired by the perhaps most famous family of the Italian Renaissance – the Medici family from Florence. Through the paper creations of Isabelle de Borchgrave, their dramatic history comes to life.

The Medici’s are more than welcome to Kalmar Castle. Finally, the Vasa Kings are visited by some of their greatest favorites!

Isabelle has a dream of letting the visitor experience dresses, that have long since been lost. She makes the dream come true through paper and illusory drawing. Everything is made from the same sort of paper, the clothes as well as the hairstyles, shoes, and jewelry. Paper is the obvious working material for Isabelle, through which she embodies the dresses and the people of time long gone by. Enter and be amazed!
